Velvet is built around affirmative consent, cryptographic boundaries, and zero unnecessary personal data collection.
Velvet is strictly for consenting legal adults. Minors are prohibited from accessing any adult-only interactive features (direct messages, protected photo sharing, and voice chat). We use zero-knowledge age-assurance verification points that confirm majority without saving identity documents in public member records.
Every photo uploaded to Velvet automatically has its EXIF metadata (camera serials, GPS coordinates, capture timestamps) wiped on the server before storage. Photos delivered to protected viewers are dynamically rendered with visible viewer forensic watermarks.
We do not make misleading claims of “100% screenshot proofing”. While Velvet applies client protections, burns photos after viewing, and stamps forensic watermarks, no software can prevent an external physical camera from photographing a display. Please share sensitive content only with people you choose to trust.
When you block someone on Velvet, they disappear from your experience completely. They cannot find your handle, see your messages in community lounges, or initiate calls with you. No notification is ever sent to the blocked user.
